Happy Cinco de Mayo!

by Danielle 5. May 2012

Marty's USRV is Celebrating Cinco de Mayo with our last day of our May Day Sale!   As part of our celebration we are offering 50% off selected parts and accessories.

Did you know that Cinco de Mayo means "the 5th of May"?  This weekend marks the 150th anniversary of a Mexican militia's victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla.  France sent a massive army to invade Mexico, as they wanted to collect on some war debts.  The french army was much larger, better trained and equipped then the Mexicans struggling to defend the road to Mexico City.  It rolled through Mexico until it reached Puebla, where the Mexicans made a valiant stand and against all logic, won a huge victory.  It was short-lived, as the French army regrouped and continued; eventually taking Mexico City, but the euphoria of an unlikely victory against overwhelming odds is remembered every May fifth.

Study shows USRV can help Save up to 59% on Vacation

by Danielle 19. March 2012

Yes you read that correctly!  A study, prepared for RVIA by PKF Consulting USA, found a family of four that owns a RV can take an RV trip for 23% to 59% less then other types of vacations, reported by RV Executive Today.

"RV vacations were more economical than the other vacations analyzed, regardless of trip duration, trip distance, or region of the country where the vacation takes place," said PKF VP Kannan Sankaran.  Marty's USRV has been telling people that for years.  RVing is the way to go whether its by Trailers or Motorhomes.

National Pancake Day - February 28,2012 YUM

by Danielle 28. February 2012
Today is National Pancake Day.
I have fond memories of camping as a child in a US RV and seeing my father, Marty Hanoud, cooking pancakes for my brothers and I.  I loved waking up, on Sunday mornings to the smell of pancakes and bacon, or if we were extra good we got chocolate chips and banana! (although mom would frown because it would make us to hyper in the morning) YUM.  I can still see it: shuffling out of the trailer and seeing Dad flipping flapjacks on the gas grill under the awning.  It was such a special time that we shared and such wonderful memories.
I guess that is why camping and pancakes just go together, kind of like campfires and smors'!  Almost 30 years later I still hold those times very dear to my heart.  Spending the precious moments in your life camping in a USRV and bonding with your children or grandchildren.
So tonight cook some pancakes for the ones you love.  In fact make Marty's Chocolate Chip Banana Pancakes:
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup of mashed bananas
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate chip
ENJOY and make some memories

State Parks in Indiana offer lodging for Pats Fans

by Danielle 23. January 2012

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Available, affordable and nearby.

These words aren’t usually associated with lodging for Indianapolis’ big February football weekend, but all apply to accommodations at Indiana’s State Parks and State Park Inns for those looking to come to Indianapolis for the event.

Some options are less than an hour from downtown Indianapolis. All are worlds away in terms of atmosphere, offering a perfect break from the crowds, and none requires a minimum stay.

Rooms starting at $99 a night are at Abe Martin Lodge at Brown County State Park near Nashville (50 miles from downtown). Brown County also has family cabins that sleep eight and have kitchens for $179 per night.

Canyon Inn at McCormick’s Creek State Park in Spencer (55 miles from downtown) has rooms from $69 to $159 per night.

Turkey Run Inn at Turkey Run State Park in Marshall (80 miles from downtown) has rooms ranging from $52 to $112 per night.

Turkey Run also has rustic cabins that sleep four and cost $69 per night. These cabins have two double beds and bath, but no cooking facilities.

Each inn has a full-service restaurant. Abe Martin features an indoor water park. See IndianaInns.com for information and reservations, or call 1.877.LODGES1 daily from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Three other inns farther away also have accommodations that can be booked at similar rates. Fort Harrison State Park Inn in Indianapolis is full for the football weekend.

Winter camping, with access to running water and heated restrooms, is available at Brown County for less than $18 a night for a campsite with electricity. See Camp.IN.Gov.

Rustic cabins that sleep six and have full kitchens are available starting at $45 per night at Shakamak and Whitewater state parks. Both state parks are approximately 90 minutes from downtown. See Camp.IN.Gov. Check out camping and similar cabins at other Indiana state parks and reservoirs all year round at the same website.

“Available, affordable and nearby” are three great words. ”Available,” however, is not necessarily lasting. ”Affordable and nearby,” of course, always apply to Indiana State Parks and Reservoirs and Indiana State Park Inns.

For more on the offerings at state parks and reservoirs in Indiana, see StateParks.IN.gov.
